Peyton Manning: Analysis

Topic 1: The social media plays a big part in the news of Manning.  Through the social media many people get to share their opinions and learn what others think about the situation.  In the social media such as Facebook they continuously have updates on what is going on and get people involved with poles and surveys to know what everyones take is on a certain situation.

Topic 2: Since nothing has been official in Manning's situation most of the media sources were opinions rather than facts.  Most media channels discussed what the think would happen with Peyton or what move the Colts would make.  So this made the channels that can get a hold of Peyton to interview him live, very valuable because that was the only time we can actually get the facts straight on what exactly is going on.

Topic 3: ESPN was one of my main sources.  It has a TV broadcast and an online source as well.  Since it has its own network on television it is always updating all braking news or updates on ongoing stories.  Therefore, the online services they provide are not as exciting as compared to other networks.  Although, online you can see videos that are shown on TV as many times as you want, and the news online will be more instantaneous.

Topic 4: This story was made a lot larger with the citizens getting involved themselves by expressing their opinions for major sources to be impacted my them. This was possible because mainly of the social media and all the online sources we have available to us today.  Some of the major sources such as the ESPN website was encouraging the civilians to get involved with the use of poles and surveys.

Concordia-Analysis

Topic 1- Social media plays a great role in the news, especially like my story reported by MSNBC's Facebook page, as this disaster that has occurred recently, is causing so much controversy. While social media websites advertise for other social media outlets, this helps people discuss their views and opinions of issues being brought up. The audience has been reacting great as it is becoming easier to communicate.

Topic 2- Each of the sources that I used have been known to be very credible. The coverage and news updates don't change, and really compliment each other. While the newscast posts all the events summarized into a few minutes, the constant updates the website brings, helps bring up to minute updates for people that are already following the event.

Topic 3- When news agencies have an online source to go along with their channel, they each being up news updates that make stories ongoing. The Internet helps bring up to minute news updates, when the television programming isn't available. The same goes for the news channels websites, which the poster won't update the news the same event over a constant time period, while it is continued to be followed on air.

Topic 4- It really makes the viewer feel like they a making a difference in the community. By reporting what they witness, people may send in footage not possible with a professional tv crew. I think when people submit these videos, they know how their media would be used, and it really is a great example of freedom of speech. Like for the Concordia Ship incident, many I the passengers recorded footage from the chaos, giving us, as the viewers at home to see a first hand account of what had actually happened.

Super Bowl: Analysis

TOPIC 1: Social Media is a main medium for this story in particular. It is used to help let viewers follow and interact with the story that no other media channel can provide. For example, the NFL Facebook page allows fans to converse with each other and share their excitement for the upcoming game. Social Media sites are usually advertised on other media channels to purposely lead their followers to engage in their story and to broaden their audience members. I think it is beneficial, as most fans will readily look at sister sites to look for contests, take polls, and join the other millions of people who share interests with them.

TOPIC 2: The credibility and accuracy of these channels seem to be fairly decent and true. The newspaper has its information down to a T, as it thoroughly details how the teams got to where they are. The newscast also looks at each team's past and decides, based on that, what will become of their future. The Facebook page accurately displays NFL as a whole, and portrays both the Patriots and the Giants perfectly. The blog is filled with credible facts as well, but the author uses those facts to share his own opinion rather than just plain show the facts for what they are. However, all the sources are accurate and reliable.

TOPIC 3: There is somewhat of a difference between online articles and other present media channels. While one might cover a broad view of the story, the other might look deeply at one subject of the story in particular. One might also be a once-a-day presentation of the story while another is updated once of twice a week. For example, the newscast for ESPN has their channel everyday, but the blogger will not post different things on the same subject everyday; they write every weekend and cover topics slightly different from that of the news team at ESPN.

TOPIC 4: This new journey in citizen journalism is a positive one. It seems to me that the audience would appreciate and welcome it more because they are the ones who contributed to the story. Why wouldn't they want to engage in something that includes them? This is a perfect way to boost mass media audiences and open new doors to journalism. People have the right for freedom of speech and are welcomed to use it accordingly. If they don't want to run into issues with privacy, then they should think twice before submitting a video or reporting online for the public to view.
Payton Manning

Payton Manning will be having an interview today on ESPN Sports Center at 3 pm ET.
He will be asked his opinion on his future and on his status of his injury and much more.

To watch paytons full interview click here.

Peyton Manning was asked many tough questions during this interview.  The task of the interview was to try and get all questions answered out there about him and the Colts, but according to Peyton Manning nothing has been said or discussed about him and his future.  At this point in time, his future is completely unknown and will not be known until after the Superbowl. Peyton Manning just wants to focus on the Superbowl and and city of Indianapolis, since they are hosting the Superbowl this week.  He will just continue doing his rehab and working hard for what ever happens in the future.  Although Peyton has been involved in the franchise for since he was drafted in 1998 he says that what ever happens he will make the best out of it and continue being the best he can be.

What if he is traded?

If Manning gets released next week after the Colts determine what happens with him, his contract will automatically be terminated.  Therefore this will allow Peyton to be on the market immediately instead of waiting till March when the free agency opens up.  So next week will be a busy week for Peyton and a lot of NFL teams as they try to work to get in position to sign him on their team.

In this blog by Aaron Wilson of Scout.comhe explains the relationship that Manning has with the Colts franchise and the people in it.  It would be tough for Manning and all the people involved to let him go.

Social Media:
Payton's facebook page
On Payton's Facebook page you can see conversations of what people think will be the result of his future and where he will end up at. Here you can find poles and surveys.  The numbers of people involved in the questionnaires and comments can really display the impact social media has on us now.

Concordia Ship-Blog Update

The blog, Voice of America, promises to bring up to minute breaking news, and hasn't failed to do so, especially with the Concordia Ship story. While the blogger hasn't stated their name, they inform us that it would probably take up until the end of this year, to get all the remains of the ship off the coast of Italy. It has also been announced that they cannot start this process to move the ship until all the fuel has been removed, which can take up to a month.
On top of that, the blogger has also stated that a 17th body has been found, of a woman, and that at least 15 people are still missing. It also takes note that the captain is currently under house arrest, and still facing charges for leaving the members of the crew alone as he left the ship to save himself.
Voice of America
What is Peyton Manning's future?

This is one of the biggest questions around the NFL today.  Everyone is curious, what will happen to Peyton.  With the number one pick in the 2012 draft, will the Colts take the heismen runner up Andrew Luck over him?
With Andrew Luck being one of the best quarterbacks in college football for the past years, their is a lot of talk about him being the first pick of the NFL draft this season.  But the question is if the colts are willing to take a chance with Luck and see if he will be there next franchise quarter back.  Although that is not a good idea because Payton Manning has been a great asset to the Colts since he was first drafted out of the University of Tennessee as the number one pick of the 1998 draft.

Many professional analysts are predicting that Peyton Manning will be traded in order for the Colts to make the big move to draft Andrew luck.  The two teams that seem most interested in attempting to sign Manning are the New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins.

Right now the highest possibility is the Miami Dolphins, simply because they are in more of a need of a quarter back.  According to ESPN.com "The Dolphins have not been afraid to say they will turn over every rock to find a quarterback. That includes options like Manning and Matt Flynn in free agency, as well as Robert Griffin III in the draft."  The Dolphins believe that Matt Moore (their current quarter back) was a good asset but just don't see him as their franchise QB.
